Corpus Christi Boat Show, Corpus Christi, Texas
Well, another boat show and I’ve talked Judy into going again. Really she likes the crowds and shopping atmosphere that most women like and that you see at events like this. I was looking forward to meeting some new people and seeing some new boats and fishing gear. We were getting a bit of a late start but we were on the way. The weather was a little on the cool side and was supposed to get even colder by the weekend. I still brought my waders in hope that I may get the chance to do some fishing (if it’s not to cold). We’ve been invited to stay at a friends house in Rockport so we don’t have to check in at a hotel. Corpus Christi, Texas is really a beautiful city located just about in the middle of the Texas Gulf Coast and at the north end of Padre Island. The main financial industries of this area are the large petroleum refineries located along the very active Port of Corpus Christi, the port itself, agriculture that includes cotton and grains, commercial and sport fishing. Tourism is drawn here because of the Gulf of Mexico, the beaches of Padre Island and the tremendous fishing resources for sports fishermen that extend the entire length of the Texas Gulf Coast. Our desire to provide the best and most current information about the sport fishing resources to fisher men, women, and children in our state, is the reason that we attend these shows as The Texas FishNet Daily News. The CC Boat was held in the Bay Plaza Convention Center which is a real tribute to the progressive attitude of the city of Corpus Christi. It is directly next to the, a truly marvelous facility that is really impressive and adequate to accommodate and show off almost any type of venue. When we arrived, we went straight to the information center, got our press passes and entered the show. I was immediately impressed with the quality if the floor layout of the show. As we walked around, it was evident that even though this wasn’t as big as the Houston show, it was well planned and coordinated. |
