Tenth-year Texas Show Broadens Cast to Deeper Waters

With a new name, bigger audience and broader appeal, yesteryear’s Shallow Water Expo (now Austin's 2006 Fishing Expo) opens to the public on March 25 and 26 at Palmer Events Center in downtown Austin.

It’s two days of the latest in boats, motors, gear, rods, reels, lines, lures and the people who use them. It’s also hands-on with technical answers for technical questions and numerous opportunities to comparison shop, test, try and buy.

The show celebrates fishing. Expert anglers like Roland Martin, Rick Ruoff, Chuck Scates, Sally Moffett, Billy Sandifer, Scott Sparrow, Stacy and Billy Trimble, Chuck Uzzle and other notable anglers are scheduled to share their skills.

Bring the kids. In fact, bring every angling wannabe you know. Rick Ruoff, noted TV fishing show host, teaches them to cast. It’s free and fun and a great way to introduce the fly fishing side of the sport.

Fishing, Boating, Casting, Tying, How-To’s, How-Not’s...it’s all here.

This expo is known for attracting a select audience. One made up of passionate anglers.

If you’re serious about fishing, or even just curious, here’s where you’ll want to be.

Show hours Sat. 9-5; Sun. 10-5.

Admission is $10 Kids 13 & under free.

Palmer Events Center is located at 900 Barton Springs Road, Downtown Austin.
