Baffin Bay / Corpus Christi

Capt. Kevin Akin

May 7, 2006 - Trout fishing in the Baffin Bay complex is still rocking. In the past weeks he have seen our mature trout in a holding pattern on our rocky shorelines . Making the hunt for our 25inch + trout seem to easy. With our green water moving from the south our keeper size fish have been on the move covering large areas in a short time. Most are are fish are located south of Baffin. But the south and north shoreline of Baffin are also holding good numbers and size. If your throwing plastics or hard baits the colors have still been dark baits.
With May 1st comes are croakers season. For those of you that are a lil' green to salt water fishing today many angler target trout with small croaker. These croaker come from our local bait stands and most are caught in nets near or in Corpus Christi Bay. By our depleting commercial shrimpers. Prices on these croaker can run from $4.00 a dozen to $8.00 depending on these bait stands. Rigging to fish with croaker is very simple . Grab our favorite rods, slap at least a 25ibs mono or floro carbon leader on it and tie on a #5 croaker hook and your done. Anchoring up throwing these croaker at rocks , drop offs and sand holes is the most popular fishing technique.
