July 11, 2007 - After some good rains, the temperature has been steady at above 90 degrees with heat index above the 100's  Water temperature at Falcon is 88 degrees, and the water level keeps rising slowly but steady and we are now at 275 ft. This is about 26 ft. low.  The catfishing has been excellent with the new water coming into the lake limiting in about 2 hrs. The baits of choice are Danny Kings punch bait, liver and shrimp.  For those who like gar fishing, we have seen plenty above 150 lbs.  Bass fishing is good considering that the lake is rising everyday and it should move the fish up to shallow water the next couple of weeks for some great spinner bait action.  Fish are being caught in about 6 to 12 ft of water in flooded brush and main land points.  Popular and effective baits are plum color worms and brush hogs in watermelon red.  Jigs in 1/2 to 1 oz. black/blue and pumpkin.  Carolina rig is also working good in the main points.  Come down to Falcon where the fishing and weather are always hot!!!

January 08, 2007 - Weather down here in Zapata is very unpredictable. The last few days have been rainy, windy and cold yes cold! Now we have sunny days, calm and beautiful. The lake level is holding at 277 ft. the water temp is at 59 degrees. The fish are between 2 and 10 ft of water in the mouth of creeks and points. Jigs in watermelon and pumpkin are working great flipping in the bushes. The lizards and big Berkley worms are also working good throughout the day. There have been a number of tournaments in Falcon and most winning stringers have been in the 30+ lbs range. The spawn season is approaching and so are the big monster bass. Don't be surprised if a lake record is caught this year!

Catfish is also good with stink bait any day of the week.

Come down you might be the one to catch it!

November 02, 2006 - This morning the weather is just perfect with clouds and a nice breeze. the temp is 63 degrees. Water temp. is 77 degrees. Fall season is here and the time for big bass stringers is back. If you want to grab the catch of a lifetime come to Falcon Lake the best bass lake in Texas. The Opec was held on Oct. 21 and 22 and it was the beginning of a tremendous tournament season. The winning stringer was 53.60 lbs on only 6 fish (3 fish per day) The big bass for the 2 day event was a 12.42 monster. Dominant baits are currently crank baits and flipping jigs. You still can catch plenty of quality bass on the favorite watermelon colors. Launching is good at the public boat ramp and State Park. Lake level is holding at 278 with some new flooded brush after the last two months 6 ft. rise.

August 11, 2006 - Weather down here is nice in the mornings until about 11 a.m. then it cooks to about 100 degrees but the fishing is 100% excellent. Weather temperature is 87 degrees, water is partly clear on the South end by the dam, and a bit stained on the North end due to the wind. Big fish are biting well early in the morning on crankbaits and spinner baits from marker one to marker #7 in 2 feet to 15 feet of water around points and humps. On the north end from maker #7 to marker #14 brush hogs, hoo daddys and Berkley worms are doing the job around flooded timber in the edge of river channel in 6 feet to 8 feet of water.

The latest guided trips turned up fish from 5 to 9 lbs average. We had 30 plus fish in the 5 to 8 pound range. So fishing is really hot at Falcon.

Come visit us and enjoy a great day!
