Tenth-year Texas Show Broadens Cast to Deeper Waters

With a new name, bigger audience and broader appeal, yesteryear’s Shallow Water Expo (now Austin's 2006 Fishing Expo) opens to the public on March 25 and 26 at Palmer Events Center in downtown Austin.

It’s two days of the latest in boats, motors, gear, rods, reels, lines, lures and the people who use them. It’s also hands-on with technical answers for technical questions and numerous opportunities to comparison shop, test, try and buy.

Once we stepped inside I just had to start looking at all the “goodies”. If you are a person that likes to fish, you can’t help but have a good time at these shows. The first thing I like to do at a show is just walk around and see all the different kinds of fishing tackle and new products, the different guides and guide services, the seminar schedule, any other booths like a Cajun cooking booth, or the roasted pecans booth, or information about marinas or lodging etc., where the concession stand is and where the restrooms are.
