Port Mansfield/Arroyo City

Richard and Susie Weldon began fishing the Lower Laguna Madre in the early ‘80’s. Even while holding full time jobs as a General Contractor and Bookkeeper, they managed to fish over two hundred days per year for almost twenty years. Following the “tournament trail” during the summers, each won dozens of trophies and titles. Moving from Harlingen to Arroyo City in 1994, It didn’t take long for them to give up their real jobs and follow their hearts into full time guiding.

Weldon Charter Services, LLC is a fishing guide service based in Arroyo City, Texas. Centrally located on the Lower Laguna Madre, their charters range from Port Mansfield to South Padre Island. WCS offers fly fishing tours, lure fishing tours, birding adventures and sunset cruises.

Their usual approach to fishing is to sight fish for redfish and speckled trout whenever possible. Sight fishing can be done from the boat, poling, drifting , or wading the warm shallow flats. Susie and Richard are always ready and willing to work with individual anglers with regard to learning how to spot fish and cast to them. No matter what Mother Nature throws at them, they will always do their best to assure the client catches fish and has a great time.
