A fishing trip and a junior high school invention fair inspired Don Kennedy’s Wader Buddy.
This innovative floating product geared toward the wade fisherman was unveiled at the 49th Annual Coastal Bend Marine Dealers Boat Show in the Port of Corpus Christi on Jan. 19th – 22, 2006.
THE WADER BUDDY STORY
This story begins with a fishing trip and a
school project.
I know you must be asking yourself, "what can these two things have in
common?"
Well, I will tell you how it happened:
I had just got home from my first "wade fishing" trip with a couple of
buddies, tired and worn out, when my daughter walked in from school with
the news that she (yes, you guessed it---had a school project). It was
an invention fair and she would be graded on the project.
So, being the good ‘ole dad that I am, I said, "OK", let's get it done.
As I was thinking of what WE could invent, my fishing trip came to mind.
I can't begin to tell you how much fun I had doing this, but one thing
occurred to me---how nice it would be to wade fish hands-free, with no
stringer or bait bucket tied to my side, so we started the project. I
put that kid to work, sanding, cutting and fitting everything that I
needed to make my next fishing trip more enjoyable, and it worked!
My daughter took 1st place at the invention fair, and I got the "Wader
Buddy!"
That was ten years ago. My daughter just graduated from Texas A&M
University, so I decided to build a top-quality fishing product that I
hope you will consider purchasing to give you many years of great
service.
