San Antonio Boat Show 2006

A Great Week-End of Fun

For the kids it was catfish fishing, rock climbing, bouncing on an air trampoline, and for the wives it was the vendors and the boats and for the guys it was the boats, the boats and the boats. Sea Doos, ski boats, runabouts, pontoon boats, Jon boats and of course fishing boats. There were shallow water flats boats like Maverick, Sterling, Shearwater and of course Shallow Sport. There were runabouts, really big cruiser, and sleek, fast ski boats. There was something for everyone. There was also that heavenly aroma of the caramelized sugar coated pecans and almonds.

The catfish pond is always popular with the kids.
It’s catch and release.

I liked this little guy. He made his mother come back about 4 times so the lady could help him touch the big fish. He’s bound to grow up and be a fisherman.

There are always neat personalities at boat shows or fishing shows or fishing tournaments.

The gentleman on the left is Kevin Akin one of the premier guides in the Corpus Christi area.

Brandon Garrison is from Lafayette Louisiana and works for Bell South. He has really been busy lately. He drove to Texas to rep Shearwater boats for some relaxation at the Ron Hoover display area.

Cynthia Alford ( on the left) of Swan Point Landing & Marina.

Jennifer with the Texas Fish and Game.

If you see him standing up you will know why they call Chris McLean, “Tree”. Tree is known for his seminars and his fishing abilities.

Sally Moffett and friends share some humor over by the Anchor Marine display area. Sally is a fly fishing guide that is in great demand all up and down the Gulf Coast and we hear she has two books coming out.

Chris “Tree” Mc Lean of Lone Star Graphite Rods shares a little time with Mark Nichols and his lovely wife. Mark owns the DOA lure company in Jacksonville Florida and was at the show to conduct fishing seminars.

Keith Fussell of Raven Reels had his display boat at the show. Keith has the only “Pop” rod and reel repair shop left in San Antonio. Keith is extremely knowledgeable and honest. His shop is a great place to take your rod and reels for any repairs.

Ronald Heineman is the pro staff manager for Tempest Rods, a new line of really great fishing rods.
